My Inspiration.

Writer: Nilima MowNilima Mow

'Inspiration'- this is always a great word for me. Because every time when I stumbled in my life, the people around me inspired me to stand up and walk again. Without those people, Probably, I could have never been able to stand up again.

Throughout this semester, I got a bunch of people who inspired me a lot. My journey was not so easy but I had a strong desire in my mind for teaching. However, my inner soul motivated me mostly to go fo teaching. My struggling days know how much passion I'm about teaching.

I stuck several times in my journey of teaching this semester. But my peers from ID 601, my professor, my mentor, and most people from the Writing Program especially Zach Dwyer and Will Chesher inspired me a lot and helped me make it possible. Actually, all of them are inspirations to me. Moreover, the reading materials and the speaker series were really good resources for me and most of them worked as my inspirations. Because I saw how one grew up as a teacher in some resources.

Today I'll especially talk about 2 persons who are truly the best inspirer for me throughout the semester.

First of all, I will name my mentor, Clark-Flynn. She is an awesome person. She taught me every single thing with care and love. Every time when I went to her with my failure, She encouraged me. I remember, on my first day of taking class, I was being observed and it was not a good one. Even then she stood beside me said that it was much better than I am pretending. She always told me,'' You can". And this line worked like magic for me. It reminded me every time that I should not be afraid.

She shared her experiences as a graduate assistant. She had to go through a lot of hardships than I'm going now. Her days were more challenging than mine. Her life story inspired me a lot and encouraged me to move further and enhance my skills as a teacher. She always found the positive things out of all my unsuccessful attempts. She taught me how to take the mistakes as lessons. Her teaching style impressed me. One of the most beautiful things, I learned from observing her is "understanding the students". That helps really. Teaching would be fun and for students learning would be enjoyable, only when you will understand your students well. Her teaching techniques inspired me to get these things in me.

The other inspiration here is my friend, Betancourth Lopez. He motivated me every time when I lagged behind. He made my teaching journey much easier. His hard work inspired me. He showed me nothing is impossible and I can make it. As I'm not from a composition background, it was hard for me to get involved in it. I had to struggle a lot to get the concept clearly. In my struggle, I got him beside me as an inspiration and motivator. Whenever I got confused about anything, regarding teaching I talk to him. We discussed together about my teaching, my students. He helped me to get out of any problematic situation. He is one of them who made my teaching journey smooth.

Teaching is something that gets more flexible and effective with time. It develops continuously. As I mentioned above, my most important inspiration is my inner me who is passionate about teaching and inspiring me every day, every single moment to train myself and improve my teaching skills. So that I can give my best and make the way of learning easier for my students.

It's so important to have both mentors and friends and they both play unique and important roles in our lives!
